The Sweetest Tutti Frutti-Themed Birthday Party
Despite the dismal winter we've had here in NYC (how many Nor'easters have come through this month?), these last few days of sunshine have reminded me that spring is just around the corner. To kick off the season, I had the opportunity to team up with a few other creatives to produce a very sweet tutti frutti-themed birthday party for Martha Stewart. The bright, vibrant colors of the decor gave a light-hearted, fun feel to the shoot and left me ready to throw a fruit-filled party of my own. I’m thrilled to share the details with you!

The first step to a successful party is the invite - after all, you can’t have a party without any guests. The bold, colorful custom invites by Sweet Dani B helped set the stage for a sweet celebration. The fruity, googly-eyed cartoon characters give guests a glimpse of what’s to come at the main event. These invites can be sent out digitally or as a good old-fashioned paper invite. Either way, these will get your cutie-patooties ready to get the party started!
An abstract geometric centerpiece designed and crafted by Michelle Bablo took center stage on the table. The centerpiece was an interlocking puzzle with fruit slices and wedges, tying all of the other elements on the table together. Small bowls of fruity candy, bold party hats, and bright mid-century modern dinnerware stood out against the background of a solid white table cloth from Nuage Designs.
DIY fruit mason jar cups, also designed by Michelle, served as fun drinkware for the party - they’d also be great for serving up a fruit punch with frozen melon balls. The mason jar cups can even serve as party favors for guests to remind them of their sweet adventure.
No party is complete without a little food - and sweets were the main focus here. A dessert bar featured Dani's googly-eyed sugar cookies inspired by the fruit characters from the invites, Sugar Monster Sweets cupcakes topped with edible gold cherries, a watermelon “cake", and pineapple fruit balls. The dessert display was accompanied by an absolutely bananas balloon installation (pun totally intended) by Michelle.
The main event of the dessert bar was a four-tier, custom, tutti frutti inspired cake made by Sugar Monster Sweets. Each tier of the cake holds a sweet, fruity detail including watermelon seeds, fruit slices, and even a pineapple topper.
Additional details like California Lustre’s fruit inspired drink stirrers and the fruit-scented confetti from Confetti Bar were perfect additions to round out the party.
